Engineering includes chocolate bubbles and attractions, the treatment of severe diseases and the conquest of space, victory over the enemy and the fight against global warming. This is the process during which theoretical science acquires practical application. It is engineering that makes our lives the way they are. Our people are fifty stories about Ukrainian engineers and their inventions. Ukrainians by origin or belief.
This book was conceived by the “Engineering Week” project team. We have come a long way together with those who helped it to see the world in paper and electronic form.
Students from Ukrainian schools and their teachers helped us to look for the names of those engineers, the world needed to know more about. A team of more than twenty incredible artists and designers have worked on the illustrations. “My Bookshelf” Publishing House has started publishing a paper version of the book. In order to get acquainted with Ukrainian inventors far beyond Ukraine as well, a whole community of English translators and teachers joined the translation.
We truly thank everyone whose talent has become part of this book.
At the end of 2021 “Ours. Engineering History of Ukraine” was included in the “Top BaraBuki: the best family publications of 2021”, receiving a special award from the “Museum of Science” of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
