Dates

Different countries have moved from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar at different times. For example Spaine, part of Germany and most of France started use Gregorian calendar in 1582, Great Britain — in 1752, Ukraine — in 1918, Greece — in 1923. But Saudi Arabia did it only in 2016, hoewer before they used not the Julian, but the Islamic calendar. Talking about the past is easy to get confused. Sometimes the same event took place in one country at the end of one month and in another at the beginning of next, at the end of one year and at the beginning of a new one. To reduce the confusion a little, we took the Gregorian calendar as the basis — all the dates of birth and death of engineers and inventors are listed on this calendar. Dates of events are also indicated on the Gregorian calendar, except in cases of quoting newspaper news and announcements.
